There are lots of ways to contribute. Keeping tanks and ships health up with your wrench. You don't get points, but it helps the team. Going in on foot ahead of a tank to scope out the AT guys and other armor. You'll probably die, but it saves the tank. Spawning and respawning at a contested point to tie up enemy assets even though you are getting stomped. Guarding a flag to prevent the enemy from recapping it behind the assault. I watched Skandranon do this on Gold Beach the other day. He watched patiently while everyone else was assaulting. Me included. I figured he had it covered. I've spent a good part of a round watching the same flag before picking off several would be cappers.
It's all about having fun and using your skill to the best advantage. I stay out of the air (well almost always) because I can't fly. I love to man a turret, but you'll rarely find me fly. If you can scare off the fighters long enough for a successful bomb run you've contributed. You can also pick a spot out front and spot for arty or call enemy activity. Just remember: stealth and hiding. It keeps one alive. The only time I don't advise this is those maps when you just have to make an all out assault: Cretan Village, Pegasus, etc. One night I was killed 6 times in a row by a very good tanker. He probably enjoyed wracking up the score. I was the only one he was killing, but I kept him tied up between two flags for about 3 minutes. He could have been capping other flags or wreaking havoc elsewhere, but I kept him busy with a low impact task - killing a single infantryman. I had a lot of fun doing it, but it sure didn't help my kdr. He got 6 kills and multiple flag cap points, but his team lost.

That game was insane. When I joined the server Allies were losing like less 100 something to 200 plus tickets on axis.
And then the Axis loses momentum and starts dropping tickets! At one point, allies had 21 - 100ish and I thought "that's it, we're losing" - and then- BAM!!! We win by 2- 0!!! Only on Wolf! Edit: And Tissueman is 100% right. My score usually sucks, because I spend most of my time doing exactly what he's talking about. Last edited by ww2freak; 03-30-2007 at 01:05 AM. |

Well not the entire round. I killed ze Panthers, the Tiger, the P4, the camping (FRANEK) P4, and spearhead the assault to take back the flags. Then I found a nice little cozy spot to camp in. And camp I did, no one made it down the hillside or accross that bridge. A comeback special always needs some good undefined camping, expecially on allies since they can't camp nearly as hard. I was just...... thinning out their numbers. Was a good game all in all. Fun-Wanna-Be wasn't happy after getting swatted in his Panther, but whats new. Good comeback on allies part. There are a few dedicated ground pounders on the server who go for flags. If you watch what teams they are on you will see who wins in the end. And doing that role you will die a lot. But dying and taking a few with you to keep a flag grey does A Lot.
Go into a situation you may die in if it buys your team time |

Camping? Or "Just thinning out their numbers" as Tex would say in the same situation. Leave it to someone to think they camp, when pretty much they may have been in strategic positions holding the other team back. And when is Fun Wanna Be ever happy he gets swatted in that Panther?

That was an good round... was fairly ineffective in the second half due to dinner...towards the end I snuck over to the Allied hill as Tanker and tied up a sherman for like 5 min as I ate my 'lamb curry'
I believe that the Jumbo was tucked in just west of the church for a while, see Googel's screeny for the actual position...hiding behind those pesky wrought iron fences so only the turret was exposed. Actually a nice spot and will have to try it out next time I play Allied. I think that mortar fire from the Axis hill would make that position untenable though. Wouldn't you love to see Allied Tanks actually play agressively for a change, and cross the river to engage the Axis outside of their main. But not too close of course! It is a common occurance for Axis to move heavies north of that PAK gun....so why not the Allies. Steve/Whitt |

I personally assumed nothing based on the medals EXCEPT in regard to the Silver; as I know how that Player plays: Pitch-a-tent-type tactics. Usually culminating in a Medal (with TKs). But his side loses... Anyone who knows how to drive a Panther HATES having the "Sweetest ride in FH" (ground) blown out from under them ;+). Quote:
Just gotta avoid getting "sniped out"... It does require the "window to open" for it to work well (no German Armour coming to bridge); but it IS a great tactic for pulling the German teeth.

I was riding hull gun at the beginning of that round in Whitt's Panther, calling out targets for him when all of a sudden ( after we had crossed the second bridge and were definitely in Allied territory) he says "take the tank Stig". I thought he was out repairing for a bit but I finally realized that I was on my own cause he was chowing down!
